What it’s about

Do you really believe you choose your life?

Think about it for a second: “How many of your decisions are really yours, and how many come from your family inheritance — from what you saw at home, from what your grandparents kept quiet about or from what you learnt the hard way?”

This book was born from there: from realising that I hadn’t programmed my GPS myself, that it came factory-installed by my family and that, until I reprogrammed it, I would keep repeating the same route over and over again.

Here you won’t find poster-style motivational quotes or promises of eternal happiness. What you will find is an honest journey — at times raw, at times funny — into the unconscious, that place which drives most of what you do without asking your permission.

With dark humour, personal stories and exercises that anyone can do, I show you that:

  • Your unconscious works like an iceberg: what you can see is tiny compared with what is in charge from below.
  • Family patterns creep into the way you earn money, the way you love and even the way you fall ill.
  • Anger, envy and guilt don’t disappear because you ignore them; they stay in the body and take their toll.
  • Money isn’t the enemy; it’s the messenger that reminds you which route you are following.
  • Being the “black sheep” isn’t a sentence; it’s the way out, the door to starting to be free.

I didn’t write this book so that you would smile with your eyes closed or act as if everything were fine. I wrote it so that you can laugh at your shadows, recognise which pattern has you trapped and decide, once and for all, where you want to go.
